PARADE: 10:00am – No entry form required, to participate meet at the Centerburg Church of Christ on Columbus Rd before 9:30am on Saturday morning September 19th, 2026 – for line up. The Parade “step off” will be promptly at 10:00am – Up Main Street, through town, turning onto St. Rt. 314 and into Memorial Park.

*** Meet our 2026 Parade Grand Marshall – Stephen M Wright has been a resident of Centerburg and farmer of 2 separate farms since the early 1960’s. He was drafted in 1968 to go to the Republic of Vietnam where he stayed till 1970 being a M-175 Howitzer driver and gunner. He later retired from the Army in 1995 and from Motor Carrier Enforcement of Ohio, a division of the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 2001. Since his retirement and far before, he loved collecting and restoring Massey Harris and Massey Ferguson tractors that he grew up on.

Mother-Verna McDonald Father – Morgan Wright

First of all, I would like to thank the people of Centerburg and the surrounding communities for allowing me to be the Grand Marshall for this year’s Farm Festival. It is truly an honor.

I grew up on a farm south of Cheshire Ohio, along the underground railroad. We had a pond and my mother would catch and cook frog legs out of that pond. Sometimes they would even jump out of the pan while she was cooking them. Together we had a very large family with lots of kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Upon getting drafted and sent to Vietnam for over 14 months, I later joined the U.S. Army Reserves. In the Army, I was able to see Australia, Germany 3 different times, as well as Honduras and many other places.

The big thing about being in Vietnam, was that it taught a person to realize, that it didn’t matter how you talked, what you looked like, or where you were from. It was you saving one individual, hoping that all the others had your back. We were all 1 over there.

One of the biggest issues visiting other countries was seeing all the different cultures. I was not prepared for that, nor did I know anything about other cultures growing up. It was all new for me.

In 1972, I started working for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. In 1995, that division got transferred to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. I stayed there until my retirement in 2001.

Currently I have about 27 old farm tractors total between myself, my Son, and my grandson. Being part of these old tractor clubs and everyone involved, have just been a blessing to me. Just the nicest people and I’d do anything for them.

My current plans are to continue as usual. Thank you all for this prestigious honor of being the marshal. After bringing equipment down here for over 30 years, I hope to represent Centerburg well.
